The most common thing I have heard over the years is that I am not flexible I can't do YOGA. Well that's a myth because if you can breathe you can do yoga its that simple. There are classes for beginners that are basic poses and there are classes for students that have limitations too. Meditation is also key.
Yoga improves strength, balance and flexibility. ...
Yoga develops inner awareness. It focuses your attention on your body's abilities at the present moment. It helps develop breath and strength of mind and body. It's not about physical appearance.
Yoga studios typically don't have mirrors. This is so people can focus their awareness inward rather than how a pose — or the people around them — looks. Surveys have found that those who practiced yoga were more aware of their bodies than people who didn't practice yoga. They were also more satisfied with and less critical of their bodies. For these reasons, yoga has become an integral part in the treatment of eating disorders and programs that promote positive body image and self-esteem.
Ongoing over the years I have observed the benefits of yoga students on and off the mat and they have changed their lives to be the best that they can be. I have students that have practiced and gained self confidence and Type A personalities that actually learned to relax and be present. Students whom felt because they we're a larger body or not comfortable coming to class attend a Yoga For Round Bodies class and transitioned to being amazed at the strength and courage they really had within. The Teacher Trainings by far have been my most favourite experience of all to watch a yogi transform from student to teacher and then sharing their love of yoga and their journey inspiring others to come to their yoga mat.
One of the most personal aspects that I have gained as student myself and as a Yoga Teacher is that we can handle what life throws us with grace and ease. My experience with a spouse that developed a terminal illness and passed in 2019. I one hundred percent will say that YOGA guided myself as well as my spouse through the toughest journey of our lives together The meditation and learning to be present in the moment is what made us both able to cope during the 20 months of his illness.. I look back over the past and realize that yoga is my healer and saviour. Its a huge part of being alive and I am so full of gratitude and I know this helps me focus to be well in my mind my body my spirit. Yoga came into my life to keep it real and keep me healthy and connected to what really matters.
You will find our way to the mat in your time and space and when you do you will realize that this is where you need to be. We are all connected and we are all here to serve. To be the best person we can be and be loving and kind and share the love and compassion of this life with support and strength we will will become our authentic self.
Shining our light so bright that others will ask where you find this light. Well its inside and each time you come to the mat you light up and then keep the light with in and shine. NAMASTE Cathy
